Obitary Dickie Ray Meyer
Dick Meyer, age 69 of Ionia, died on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
There will be a celebration of Dick’s life from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at the Downtown Country Civic Center in Ionia.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Dick’s family.
Dickie Ray Meyer was born on March 8, 1943 to Clarence and Marion (Green) Meyer in Charles City.
Dick attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1961.
Dick worked at Oliver for a time before becoming employed at Mike’s C&O Tire in Charles City where he worked for 25 years. In later years Dick worked for Allied Redi-Mix until he retired. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Mulnix in La Crosse, Wis.
Dick was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan.
He enjoyed car racing, truck and tractor pulls, playing cards, yard games, the outdoors and socializing with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife Cheryl of Ionia; children Tammy (Mark) Laehn of Reasnor, Scott (Amy) Meyer of Otley and Melissa (Brian) Boess of Hawkeye; grandchildren Stephanie and Kayla Thorne, Joshua and Sarah Meyer, Mercedes and Jessica Boess, and Casey, Emily and Nathan Laehn; great-grandchildren Tyler Sizemore and Ivy and Ki Boyd; sister Dixie Baume of Prescott, Ariz.; and three nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Marion Meyer and brother-in-law Thomas Baume.
