Obituary for Elizabeth Audrey (Betty) Weyer. Elizabeth Audrey (Betty) Weyer was born in Los Angeles on January 23,1914. At an early age she began ballet dancing and performed at theaters and clubs all over Los Angeles. At nine years old she danced a solo at the Hollywood Bowl. Betty married Charles W. (Cap) Weyer in 1938 and had a daughter, Marilyn, in 1939. They had a portrait studio in Lancaster, until World War, and then moved to Westchester. While in Westchester, Betty became very active in the community. She was very active in the Lutheran church, She served as President of the Women's group, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was also President of the PTA and a Girl Scout leader. She studied clothing construction and tailoring for 17 years and was also involved in many arts and crafts like painting, ceramics and needlework. She was also an avid reader. Her husband died in 1969 and she moved to a mobile home in Ventura, where she became very active in square, round, line dancing and hula. She was teaching line dancing and hula at the age of 80. Upon coming to Ventura she worked at Trinity Lutheran Church as their secretary. She was a diligent genealogist for almost 50 years. She was also a great cook and gardener. Betty went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 21st at the age of 99. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Wanke, son-in-law Art Wanke, grandson David Wanke and his wife Sheri, granddaughter Karen Wanke, and two great-grandsons Tyler and Tanner Wanke, she was greatly loved by her family and friends. |
